Increasingly of the foreign prostitute in Bangkok’s china town or we commonly know as Yaowarat is one of the biggest problem that no one concern about and almost of these prostitute find their client at the teahouse where is the one of the most relaxing place of Chinese old man but for the last ten years it totally change. Old man who is in teahouse means that he wants to buy prostitute and all these teahouse is scatter all of china town area.

“Most of old man who is in front of the tea house spending the most their time for looking at youngster female that walking around and they always tantalize pretty woman not only with prostitute but also with other woman” said Pam, teenager who lives in Yaowarat road.

It make woman who have to use that path face with taunt and disparage situation.

“I’m on my way to back home and waiting for the red light to across the street when old stager nudges me and asks me how much I will charge for one night.” said Toy, student of the famous university.

This prostitute problem lead to another bigger problem, it is drug problem and it bring fear to community. Drug always come with heist, robbery and pilfer. The children who live around will have higher risk to face with dangerous situation moreover they will see and feel that the prostitution is commonly thing to do and don’t have to be shame. All of this child will rise up in bad environment that may make them become social problem.

“There is one old who is age about 70 – 80, he has a child with prostitute and he died when that child was 5 years old. His mother abandons him at foster home because she doesn’t have more money to look after him” said Hmoo, 40 years lod lady that sell food near teahouse.

These prostitutes will charge her service about 100 – 1000 bath. It depends on her age and how she looks. If she pretty she will charge not less than 500 bath and most of them are Chinese woman who don’t have visa and license to work anyway prostitute is illegal in Thailand.

“I’m come from china when I was 19 and I work as prostitute for 3 years. I have visa for working but a lot of my friend don’t have visa.” said Ping, twenty-three years old said “we have to be careful the police if we get caught they will send us back to china and we have to pay fine not less than 10,000 bath” she add.

AIDS and other venereal disease is one of the most things that prostitute fear beside break an agreement or don’t pay for the service.

“I insist my client to use condom if he don’t bring it I will sell it for him. Most of my clients are acceptant because they also fear of AIDS but some of them baulk.” Ping said. “Even if most of client is man who age between 50-80 but they can bring AIDS to us like teenager boys one of my friend got AIDS from her client because he insist to do not use condom.” She add.

Moreover teahouse not only have prostitute in it but it also have beggar sit around them. There are a lot of beggars both man and woman and some of them are deformed.

All of people who donate don’t realize and even know that some these beggar have income more than some of them.

“They earn money not less than 500 bath per day but if it on season they will earn not less than 1,000bath.” said Hmoo.

Some of them use that money to buy luxury things.

“I saw beggar who loose his leg accidentally buy gold necklace” Ms. Tejkajorn who work near tea house.

“Some of them have to be beggar because they have no choice there is old woman who sit near me, she have to look after her son who is addict gambling and don want to find a job.” Hmoo add.

The root cause of harm on Hi5

Many people now wake up and then switch on their computer. It becomes their routines to check what’s new in their Hi5. There is some doubt why Hi5 becomes a popular website while it’s causing much harm in our society.

Hi5 is a large social network that can connect to other people around the world. People can create their own page, upload their photos and write something about themselves. They will look very popular, if they get many comments from people and have a lot of friends. It’s simple and easy. But some people use in wrong way.
Hi5 becomes a dating website. It’s easy to find someone that you like from the photos, send messages and then make a date. Many men and women know each other via Hi5 and then become a case of rape.

Recently, three university students were arrested because prostituted via Hi5. It’s not a new case but there were many cases happening in the last year. From Kom Chad Luek Newspaper, the girls admitted that they were betrayed at the first time and also needed money.

Sometime, deceiving is not the main cause but the cause is themselves. Someone upload some sexy or naked photos on their pages, especially teenage. They don’t care much about these harms but they do something for society accepting.
Last year, there was a case of a salesman raped an office woman and recording a clip. They knew each other via Hi5 for a month, and then made a date. However, from Kom Chad Luek Newspaper, the office woman admitted that she was deceived to go to salesman’s apartment. But how she was deceived? Why did she go to apartment of someone who never saw the face?

Hi5 is not popular only in normal people, but also monk. He raped a 15 years old girl. From Matichon Newspaper, the monk admitted that they talked via Hi5 and then on telephone for two weeks before making a date.

This case made Thai people lose faith in Buddhism. On the other hand, it’s unbelievable; the girl lives in Chaiyaphum but went to see the monk at Khon Kaen. She was deceived or she was willing to do?

Although Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) deprived the monk's information of Hi5, but it cannot cut off the problem. The monk can register for his new information on Hi5 and behave as previously.
Many cases have occurred from connecting on Hi5. They communicate each other by messages and some photos. It is a great way for finding new friends around the world or chatting with someone who have the same taste. But this period it becomes a way of sexuality.

It’s not like other rape cases; a woman walked alone at night, then she was pulled to thick growth of grass and was raped. In this case, the woman was unaware. But for Hi5, they were chatting and made a date by themselves. It means that these women should be aware of danger because they made a date with strangers.
So, the cause of all cases is women believe the strangers and easily make a date. If they didn’t go with strangers, they would not been raped.

There are many cases like this that may not become the news; not only in Hi5 but other chatting programs as MSN Messenger, Camfrog and so on. So, parents should more concern about their children, especially teenage girls. Sometime, they may lack of warmth or care from their parents.

It becomes a social problem that should be solved from root cause. Police cannot arrest all bad guys but the girls can control themselves. These cases may not be only the rape but can become the crime in the future.

According to the information of The Excise Department and The Revenue Department, the net price of imported supplement product is jumped into 200-300% including the shipping cost plus with the tax rate.

Due to it has been identified as the extravagant goods. And the departments consider it’s unnecessary in life spending while the costs of imported fashionable frame of sunglasses or Apple IPod are still cheaper in tax rate.

“The department defines the tax rate of imported supplement product up to 200-300% and 50-100% for supplement product that have the manufacturing in domestic from the real price,” said Mrs. Vanyuda Sansubtawee, the officer in The Excise Department. “It’s unreasonable and unacceptable because it’s more necessary for this time to use this kind of product while the power of Thai Manufacturing is still unable to produce the supplement product as developed country can do.”

Thai Manufacturing technology hasn’t reached to enough power to produce this product to distribute to people yet. So we have to depend on the imported product if we want to respond the trend or more necessity of the healthy life at this time.

This overprice are limiting the people’ chance and rights of using product by its too expensive cost. It’s not acceptable that consumers have to purchase over 200-300% from products’ real price in order to use for take care their health.

This unreasonable taxation leads to selling of smuggled goods, contraband or even selling of the fake product. This is the danger that consumer has to face while seeking for the supplement product if they can’t purchase for the real national tax rate.

According to the information from Health Line of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the fake supplement product now is widely trading in the market such as small booth or shelf at the department store or online shopping on website.

Some are derived from the empty capsules that contain pure normal flour. But some are produced from the dangerous compound which is cheap cost and easy to buy. Even there is the real product that imported as smuggled goods, it will not be guaranteed by the systematic contract between manufacturer and branch seller about the expired date of product.

“I had ever used the GNC product that sells at the department store but it was too expensive and I couldn’t stand for this unfairness of this tax rate,” Miss Korarat Chaimuangraj, GNC’s customer. “Now I always order my friend for buying product from USA and ship to me because I can avoid taxing and just purchasing for the same price that sells in USA and the shipping cost only.”


If there is still unsolved for this problem, Thai people can’t rely on the buying product follows the taxation system. And buying the smuggled product also dares the risk of facing with fake product and unguaranteed product. How can we do to take care our health with this period of the healthy life trend that the supplement product becomes more necessary?

If we want to do follow our rights and the national taxation system isn’t still improved and supported this change yet. So we have to take risk due to we can’t purchase for over price to take care our health.

Police officers arrest more than 20 teenagers at Rachavibha Park after getting a report of illegal assemble from inspectors.

More than 20 teenagers including less than 18 years old have been arrested at Rachavibha Park while being assemble for unlawful purpose by officers’ Chatuchak Police station on Thursday 15th, 2.00 am, find drugs and hypodermic syringes including condoms around the park area. After investigating, the police officers reveal this is not the first time of arresting and officers have to do more strictly of quashing.

Rachavibha Park is the remembrance park of art performances but not have so many people come and visit because it is placed under the grade way of Rachada road. This park always occurs an accident, crime including to sexual activity according to its dark atmosphere and far from people’s sight. People around this area are accustomed to the accidents and arrestings that always happen in this park.

On daytime this park is the calm park and looks like the other park in Bangkok. People always just come and pass this park all the time because it has the way through the Vibhavadee Road. And Taxi drivers always use this park as the place for taking a nap and having lunch according to there has a taxi garage and food shop nearby the park. There is not like a dangerous place at all for daytime. But for a nighttime it is different totally. Rachavibha Park changes from the calm place to the decayed area. A lot of people start coming about 10pm and congested around midnight.

It's obviously that people who come to this park always be a group of gay and drug addict or even robber and thief. They will come around 10pm-3am and do the unlawful activity such as buying and selling sexual activity, drug and doing crime and robbery. After being arrested, the accused will be not so strictly punished because the law has provided the punishment of this case just for several hundreds to 2 thousands of fining or detaining for several days.

“This area is always dark and there's nobody pass through it. Police do the arresting and several days pass, it’s going to be the same” said Miss Vandee Promsook, occupant around the park area.

This park is considered to be the place where has much of Aids infection because there is a lot of sex promiscuousness and hypodermic syringe using of drug addicts. And sometimes this park would be the place for committing suicide and murder.

“For several years ago, there had a killing in this park. Woman was killed by slicing the neck and the murder was her ex-boyfriend. People said it caused by jealousy” said Mr. Sutham Vanawong, owner of noodle shop nearby the park.

And for several months pass, there was another killing but this time was a committing suicide.

“Dead person was a gay who was infected Aids from this park because he always came and did sex promiscuousness. And he couldn’t accept that he was infected. Then he committed suicide in this park” said Miss Nararath Boonpaphan, the owner of Krua-Fah-Sai- a restaurant nearby the park.

Police officers arrest more than 20 teenagers while they are taking drug and doing a sex promiscuousness in the park. A lot of scandal and unacceptable image is occurring by not enough caring of member in society.

If there is more strict and serious punishment for this illegal and inappropriate performances and officers including member in society take more responsibility and carefully, it would relieve everything to be better.

It is not a general situation that happens in the society. But it is a problem that indicates deterioration in our society. And this deterioration is happening to the new generation that is going to be an important part of the society in the future. Moreover if there is your lineage that is going to be a part of this deteriorated cycle, how could ignore and bear for it? So this is our turn to relieve our society.

Censorship

For this time the media phenomena in our society is going to be more obviously appeared. Mostly occur in order to organize the society rule and discipline. Some people have strongly unsupported for this media activity.

For the most recent issue on our media broadcasting at this time, we will realize to a Censorship and Rating of TV program which become a popular issue on the media and communication field. Some group in society said it is diminishing the freedom to express the idea and creativity. But another said it is the way to protect society from badly insertion which could destroy our good cultural image.

The recent issue of the Media Censorship was appealing the committee to made decision of cutting four scenes of movie “Saeng Satawat” (Syndromes and a Century) and ordered the director to cut an additional scene last year. And finally the director had declared to cancel of showing this film in domestic.

“Saeng Satawat” is art-house movie which story concern with monk, doctor and religious issue. But it had shown inappropriate images in many ways. For example a monk is playing a guitar, doctors drinking whisky, doctors kissing and two monks playing with a radio-controlled toy.

All of these made the extreme disappointment to the film's director names Apichatpong Weerasethakul. ''It was like I was on trial for being a communist,'' he said ''I will release the mutilated version as a statement and as a historical record of Thailand''. But he said he would cut the film as instructed as well.

In Asian Film Awards in 2007 in Hong Kong, Saeng Satawat won the Best Editor award and also nominated for best director and best cinematographer. And Saeng Satawat also won The Best Movie from Lotus du Meuilleur Film-Grand Prix 9th in France.

In January 2009, Saeng Satawat is come back for talking and discussing in the issue of too much in content censoring of film production by Board of Censors of Thailand after disagreement feedback from people, film directors and media field have been rapidly raised up. They have claimed the Board of Censors to make lower demand of limiting the film content because a story and content in film making must be derived from many aspects. Saeng Satawat is one of best film that guaranteed by international qualification. But it is the best Thai Film that Thai people have no chance to experience to proud in dignity.

“I have never watched this film since last year. But I think it was a quality film that Thai people must experience with,” said Miss Wanna Boriphatwong, Selling Manager of Mangpong at The Mall Ngamwongwan branch.

The Censorship can build a good image and benefit to our media and communication field. But if good image become and occur by diminishing the freedom of expression the real and various attitude of many issue in the society.

It can compare with student pass the exam by copying or cheating to their friend that they can success without any learning and developing their mind and thought and unable to use their knowledge to use in the real life when they become adult.

Sometime our own mistake or of other and bad issues in the society can be a good lesson to develop our thought and mind if we have a good judgement discretion enough. So everything must have limitation, Censorship is also. If we understand it to the core of its heart, it can be the most effective tool to improve our society without any argument as well.

“Sometimes it seems to be too much of censoring. It is not standardization for this time. It looks like a fashion on media that my family won’t care about,” said Mr. Worapong Wongwanich, teacher of private high school.

I think Saeng Satawat is the best example to indicate this point, censoring is necessary for media content. But if it is too much, it may lead a blocking the ears and eyes of Thai society.

An expected danger of the online game

Online Game is can truly be called poison for the parents if they don’t know how to control their children’s limit of playing games. Teenagers nowadays are being controlled by game online because they grow up with the newly well developed technologies, which cause their life style to change from playing soccer in a real soccer field to playing soccer in front of screen or do some social activities with friends and family to just sitting in front of computer and playing game online. These changes in life style can cause them to have a very short concentration, no social life, selfish, violent, bad grade, etc.

There are many problems that cause by game addiction: play for fun, release some stresses, show off, or receive acceptance from friends. There are still solutions for these problems. However, if children play games as if they are real and can’t differentiate the game from the real life, then the true troubles occur. Those children can have depression, have no care to the world, or even copy the game characters’ behaviors. To give you an example, recently, there’s online game that teaches the player how to rape, how to lead woman to have orgasm, or even how to trick daughter to have sex with the father. Those games are very popular, which is very dangerous to the children’s behavior and Thai society. In America, there was a boy shot his schoolmates because he imitated an online game, which involves in bombing and murdered many people. This is only one exam that shows the danger of online game.

There are many ways to solve this problem; one way is the internet café should not offer any game that is related to violence and sexuality. Another way is parents should be closely watching their children in terms of game usage. Also, parents should find other types of activities for their children: exercise, shopping, watches a movie, or anything that will distract kids from video games.

Buddhism is the main religion in Thailand and Buddhism has it own way to solve this problem, by that method it divides and analyzes the problem in to three parts.

First part is we have to find out the kind of those games: video game, play station or computer. All of these games producer use high technology to respond demand of their customer and game’s addict.

Second part is the attraction of games that effect player, why people are so addicted to games online? If we analyze in dept, we will know that Games online provide happiness for us but we call it as “Fun”, “Enjoy” and “Excite” all of these emotion come from sound and picture and make player feel that they in that game or being a character that they choose. Another thing that makes people get addicted to game online is the competition especially in group competition because normally people will be glad and fulfilled when they win. From the research games online have the same effect with drug which means addict will want more and more, Children addict the happiness that their brain create from output stimuli. Thus parents have to analyze this process with their children and show them that it is contemporary happiness.

The third parts is parents teenagers and children have to know bad result of game online that have effect with addict them self and society :

1. Healthy of addict will break down because staring at monitor or TV too much it will make people headache, eye stiff and etc. another thing is people who addict game will don’t want to leave games thus it will impossible to make them have an exercise and someone ignore to eat food all of these will have bad result to their own body.

2. Bad habit, children will have bad habit unintentionally. When they play game addict will not want to do any thing during playing time and if they do it as a routine they will become lazy and irresponsible. Some children serious addict with games if their parents don’t give them money they will steal or even harm their parents for money.

3. Loose of time, people who addict will don’t do any thing but playing especially spoil child, they will use most of their time to play games instead use that time to exercise or do something better than play games . Many children play game during class or even jump out of the class to play games.

4. Bad grade or bad job, it continue from loose time topic after they use most of their time to play game it result addict ignore their job, their grade or even their real life
The reason from above is the answers that if we still let these problems continue, our future kids could commit murder (crime), instead of develop the country.

THAI EDUCATION AND COMPETENT CITIZENS OF THE WORLD

Imagine yourself taking a lesson on how to stay alive in the future like cooking, knitting, and etc. Hence, what you really want to be in the future needs more than just tips to staying alive. Next, you try to get into a medical school and require other standardized tests but are still forced to take the O-NET and A-NET exams that end up no-use. Plus, your English proficiency isn’t all that glamorous. What would you do and how will you turn out in the future?


Present day, Thai school students are being forced to take lessons that are unnecessary for their future in their primary and high school education. Thus, the language that is being used isn’t a universally comprehensive language. In addition, they are needed to take exams that are also not accepted globally. It leads the new graduate to become an incompetent citizen of the world.


For over a decade, students are forced to take courses such as Thai literature, life saving skill (knitting, cooking, carving) and so on so forth. Nonetheless, they are also required to take an O-NET and A-NET test. The O-NET Test (Ordinary National Entrance Exam) includes Thai, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English. Similarly, A-NET (Advanced National Entrance Exam) compulsory tests are Thai, Social Science, English, Math, Science, French, German, Arabian, Chinese, Japanese and Bali-Sansakrit language. Some of these subjects are not required for their higher education or major. Moreover, leading Universities in Thailand doesn’t ultimately accept O-NET or A-NET exams; surely, Universities abroad also doesn’t.


In addition, the grade required for top universities that needs O-NET or A-NET scores are very low. For instance, Thammasat University (Thai program) requires 250. It’s only a passing grade of 50% for each subject. The admission requirements for leading universities a GPA of 2.75, it’s below the standards of universities abroad that require 3.00 GPA. A GPA of 2.75 is an average/typical score that all the students could get. However, are their capabilities of learning in an excellent level? Enough to absorb the required information for their future?


Lastly, English isn’t the means of their communication. This language is universally used for business, survival or studies in their Master degree. These graduates would come out unprepared for the language of trading or wouldn’t even survive their Master degree.


As a result, when all the factors above are combined and prolonged, these improperly trained students, admitted mistakenly into a higher educational institute with a wrong means of language in their learning would only lead to an inadequate citizen of the world in the future.

Bribe purpose for government official

Copy right violation is one of the most important issues that Thai government has concern with but this problem is deep-seated in Thai society and the government can’t find the way to solve it appropriately.

Klong Tom is one of the biggest places in Bangkok that sell pirate CD and other copy right violated things or even porn CDs and VDO. Every Thai people or even foreigner who travel and live in Thailand know about it and also know exactly where it is, how they can go, or even how they can choose the good quality CD from fraud purpose.

Klong Tom hold a thousand of shop some shop are sell copy right CD but most of them are not people usually go to shopping between 12.00 – 18.00 pm and especially in Saturday and Sunday it’ll get extra crowded. Seller will sell CD movies around 40 bath, DVD in 75 bath, mp3 CD just only 60 bath, and musical CD is around 70 bath, the price depend on how old of that movies or albums, and one of the most surprise thing is porn CD that have price around 50 bath but most of it price is just only 30 baht.

All of these CD make many damages to the owner of copy right especially actor/actress and singer because their income come from copy right CD which have higher price than pirate CD because they have many process and spend a lot of time and money to become a tangible product but these pirate seller just only copy all of hard working to sell in lower price and take advantage from it and create bad result to the producer that have less income.

“I work so hard, I put all of my effort and my time. I try to do the best job to write song and to sing it, but after my album is launch and I see many listener buy pirate CD instead of by copy right CD it make me sad and discourage me.,” Mr. Yamasatien singer 24 years old said.

Pirate CD sellers are not only one who hurt copy right’s owner, actors and singers, the police are also having part of hurting process too. Klong Tom is very famous in selling pirate CD, it is impossible that polices don’t know about these illegal place but why they did not do anything. They are many reasons but it can divide in to four main types.

First Some police being a spy for money in return, normally government launch purge pirate CD policy and the police will set assembly to specify what exactly time and date to attract and arrest the seller after that they will declare to underling to be prepare but these underling betray their boss by give this important information to pirate CD seller thus they can escape, not to be imprison, seize property and pay fine. All seller loose is just only little amount of money.

Second some police keep bribe from seller. This bribe can be various kinds such as CD, DVD but most of it is money and in return police will not arrest and connivance or even cover their eyes and ears about pirate CD, that seller who pay for them. sell in Klong Tom.
Third some police have agreement with seller to arrest them but they confiscate seller in a little unite. These will happen when police is compelled by their Boss to have worked to show on resume of police station. These police will tell the seller that when inspection will began and seller will sell pirate CD in little amount thus they will loose a little of their property.

Fourth it can continue from the third or not, sometime seller have to imprison before the examination thus police will allow seller to pay some one to stand imprison for them and people who stand in will charge their service between 1,000 bath per night.

All of these four types of action that made by police are bring a lot of damages to police them self copyright owner and also for whole of Thailand. It can imply that Thailand is lack of ability and intension to solve copy right problem and also with Thai officer who care about them self more than country and do illegal thing even tough they duty is to protect the law. Nonethelessม this problem will never end if consumer did not know the worth of copy right.
